The only "Obamacare" health insurer in metro Phoenix and Pima County is ensnared in a legal dispute with several addiction treatment centers over the cost of care amid an Arizona opioid epidemic that is taking an average of two lives each day.
Nine alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers claim in a Maricopa County Superior Court lawsuit that the health insurance company Health Net of Arizona improperly withheld or delayed lucrative payments for treatment of people struggling with addiction.
But Health Net says in a counterclaim that there was widespread fraud among Arizona and California drug rehab centers in 2015 and 2016, when it alleges"teams of brokers" recruited out-of-state clients to fraudulently obtain insurance policies and to seek treatment in Arizona.
Those actions have cost the insurance company — and Arizona consumers through higher monthly premiums — tens of millions of dollars, the Health Net counterclaim says.

Clean Adventures has never been under investigation, has never been charged with a crime, and has never had a grievance filed against them with the City of Prescott or the State of Arizona.

The article states that “Health Net representatives, citing ongoing litigation, would not discuss the case with The Arizona Republic”. Clearly the information is uncorroborated. Furthermore it is inaccurate and defamatory at best.
This article and it’s defamatory statements are an attempt by Health Net to distract from their refusal to fulfill their legal obligation to pay for services legitimately rendered by Arizona providers. When Health Net ceased reimbursing for services in early January 2016, Clean Adventures in good faith and in the best interest of their patients continued to provide services to their Health Net patients through to their graduation from the program without reimbursement, for a duration up to six months in many cases. To date Clean Adventures has yet to be reimbursed for any services provided to Health Net insured patients after early January 2016.
